A7 Corsair II – Part Five – On Her Feet

When next you see a charity tin marked ” Italeri “, stop and put a dollar in. They are good people.

In particular, they have respect and kindness for builders of their 1:72 aircraft – they always provide decent landing gear and attachment points for gear legs in the engine nacelles, wings, or fuselages. If you clean the parts and try them dry, they will always fit and be sufficient to hold the weight of the aircraft.

Are they big and crude? No, they are sensible. In most cases they will be held sufficiently with regular cement, though if you are belt-and-braces person like me you’ll add some PVA later to help out.

The other good thing is that when you follow the instructions, the gear goes on the right way. Sword take note…

The wheels point forward and the axles are big enough to keep them level. It’s not rocket science – it’s wheel science, and that came long before the rocket.
