Of the box. This one is a tribute to a club mate who left a large uncompleted stash.

I’ll confess that it is not the first Ju-52 I’ve built – one was a Heller kit repopped by the Czechs, and one was a slightly later Italeri offering. Of course this Lufthansa plane will be the same plastic as the other Italeri, but I finally get to use the striking pre-war airline livery, and I have a field for it to land upon.

The sprue trees are perfect and the clear plastic very clean. It’s an older kit, but wasn’t started. The interior has a military as well as civilian setup and I will pay dearly in the time it takes to do the seats – but I am excused machine gun mounts and skinny barrels ready to break.

There is always the problem with Ju-52s of the long and spindly pitot assembly. If I am ambitious at the end of the build I may be able to scratch-build a brass pitot.

And yes, I know the decals will be difficult – but I got the Czech registrations to lay down on the Heller kit’s wings. It is just a matter of patience and a lot of Mr. Mark Softer.
