Or, in English, half-face Lopez.
Because that is all this little 1:50th Spaniard has – his body is moulded well and he has a uniform, flying boots, and a helmet, but half his face is still in the mould. Just as well that he has been depicted facing to Port – the deformity is masked.

Now apart from this criticism, the fuselage is excellent. Ansaldo used an SPA 6-cylinter in-line engine which is quite large, but was able to slim the fuselage after the cockpit down to a triangle shape. Note the Czech kit fits pretty well – only a little thin filler on the underside.

The lower wing has plenty of land to fit on and the tailplanes slot in and are braced – no need for pinning here. The fastidious may cavil at the thickness of the trailing edge of the rudder but I am made of more malleable stuff – and the Spanish colours will be so pretty as to disguise this.

I have printed Spanish roundels, but in future if I build these larger scales I may try the mask and airbrush techniques for insignia. This is big enough to work.
