A question for those starting in 1/48 from a lifetime of 1/72.
And does that mean better detail, better shape, or better fit? Are the clear parts going to be better? How about the decals? Is it fair to judge the scale on an old retro kit?
Well, I build old retro kits in 1/72 so there is at least a direct comparison there.

Judging from this example, the fit is marginally better if you deal with the ejector pin marks that are sited on the cementation surfaces. If you don’t you will be filling a lot of gaps.

The larger parts and hard plastic mean that sprue feed gates are smaller in proportion – a bonus. There are rivets, but they can be downplayed. No sink marks.

And surprisingly, the kit has as few parts as a basic 1/72. The mania for adding complexity had not developed back then and no mixed media was needed.
