Ural Starter Truck – Part Two – Straight Into It

And likely to remain straight, as well.

The designers of this Ural kit are smarter than the average bear. The moulded the basic frame as one piece with springs attached and a number of extremely precise location holes throughout it.

This meant that, even in the hurley burley of a club morning – with the knife fights and the sirens going off – I could still attach the drive train and engine and get the axles on at 90º to the centre-line. This is one kit that bids fair to put all six of its tyres on the tarmac at the same time. You cannot say that of Italeri and Airfix – There are any number of vehicles in my collection that resemble limping beggars.

So far every part has gone in with a precise fit – I cannot say enough about the moulders on this one. There are a fair number of extra reservoirs on the smaller parts to allow full filling of the moulds. You may puzzle at what you are seeing until you clip them off.

Time for some paint mixing and wheel painting before the next stage.
