As it is, the expression serves perfectly as a reminder to scale modellers that the kit on the shelf is just a box of possibility – we need to take it down, open it up, and start making errors. Some of us ill make useful ones and some diabolical ones, but eventually something will…well..eventuate.
It may not be the model we started out to make – research, missing parts, and short shots might see to that. However, we need to find these and conquer them, and it is no good just opening the lid and staring down. Dig in and start to use your special language.
